YOUR FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS ANSWERED . . .
What are some of the signs that my pet may be suffering?
Constant scratching, rubbing, chewing, licking and biting, excessive shedding and hair loss, dry, patchy, red or irritated skin, dull coat, lack of energy and abnormal behavior. These are all signs of a potential skin condition; atopy, dermatitis and/or allergies.
My dog has spots on his back. They irritate her a lot. Our Vet has given her some steroid shots and they help temporarily, but then the spots come back. I'm at my wit's end. Which of your products should I try?
What your dog has is called "hot spots." Pet Skin Doctor Skin Therapy would be the product to begin treatment. You should see the irritation gone in 1-2 days and then, you will begin to see healing and scabbing. You should also begin using Pet Skin Doctor Food Supplement to keep the cause of the hot spots at bay.
Our pet, Julie, is experiencing a rash on her stomach that just won't go away. The Vet has given her Cortisone cream, Prednizone and Steroid shots, but the rash is still there. She scratches it and has some scabbing because of her scratching. What do you suggest that we try? She is just miserable.
We recommend our "one-two punch." That's a regimen of Pet Skin Doctor Skin Therapy (our topical product) and Pet Skin Doctor Food Supplement (one teaspoon per 20 pounds once daily). You will be happy to know that our products are all-natural, so there will be no side effects! Just massage the topical Skin Therapy into Julie's affected area 2-4 times per day and the irritation should diminish or even vanish. Then, she won't have any reason to scratch and she won't be stressed out like she is now. Simultaneously, you should begin the use of the Food Supplement. Once that product is in Julie's system, the rash should not return.
My English Bulldog is covered with flea bites and nothing seems to make them go away. They are driving him and me crazy!! What should I do???
We can promise to help your English Bulldog with his problem; you're on your own for your craziness! Begin by using Pet Skin Doctor Skin Therapy. Massage it into his affected areas 3 times a day, if possible. The itching should disappear within a day or two. We recommend that you also begin using Pet Skin Doctor Food Supplement immediately. This product will protect your pet from skin allergies, grain allergies from his food and grass allergies. It will boost his immune system.
We have a St. Bernard who keeps nipping at his feet. He is losing some of the hair between his toes. Our Vet doesn't seem to know what it is. Can you help?
Your pet probably has some kind of grass allergy. Since your pet is a long-haired breed, you will need to spend some time massaging our Pet Skin Doctor Skin Therapy into the affected areas. I would recommend that you treat between all of your pet's toes on both front and back feet. Use the Skin Therapy several times per day and the irritation should subside in 3-4 days. Continue the use until your pet is no longer nipping or licking the areas. Combine the Pet Skin Doctor Food Supplement regimen while using the Skin Therapy and, within a month or so, you should see new hair growth.
Our Yellow Lab has recently had surgery that has left a long scar on her stomach. Will your product help to heal the scar faster?
If the scar is recent, our Pet Skin Doctor Skin Therapy will quicken the healing the first day you gently massage it on the affected area. It is recommended that you apply the Skin Therapy several times per day for the first week. You will see the scar lose its redness and begin to disappear. With continued treatment, you will see hair grow back in the scarred area. Use of Pet Skin Doctor Food Supplement will also help with the healing and hair re-growth.
Will your products help with a yeast infection? Our boxer has been fighting one for almost a year. Our Vet has given him several steroid shots and Prednizone. The infection will get a little better, but it keeps coming back. He has lost most of his hair, he has little appetite and his skin is becoming discolored and thick in places.
Your pet's yeast infection began with his dog food. He has an allergic reaction to one of the grains in his food. Our products will help with his problem and, more importantly, our products are all-natural and will not cause any side effects. Because your pet has fought this problem for so long, it will take several months to correct the problem. You should begin the treatment with Pet Skin Doctor Skin Therapy. You will need to massage the product into the affected areas several times per day until the itching and scratching stops. You should also begin the use of Pet Skin Doctor Food Supplement. Your boxer will begin to eat better and more, and should begin to gain some weight back. If you haven't done so already, you should switch to a dog food with less grain in it. The combination of the Pet Skin Doctor products and a better dog food should start the healing process. Keep massaging the Skin Therapy several times daily, especially concentrating on the discolored and thick-skinned areas. After a while, you will notice the discoloration returning to a pink color. This is new skin and is part of the healing process. This new skin might be tender, but keep applying the Skin Therapy religiously. The next thing you will notice will be new hair growth. Once you have your boxer back to normal health, please continue to use the Food Supplement to enhance his immune system.
What are Essential Fatty Acids?
Essential Fatty Acids are fatty acids that we and your pets MUST have, hence Essential. We don't and won't get them in sufficient quantities from our food sources, so we must receive them from nutritional supplements.
What are the Omega's?
Omega 3 (Linolenic Acid), Omega 6 (Linoleic Acid) and Omega 9 (Oleic Acid) are the most commonly discussed "Omega's." Please refer to the answer in the question asked regarding Essential Fatty Acids because these Omega's are Essential Fatty Acids.
Why is the blend of Omega's found in Pet Skin Doctor products better than any other blends?
The blend of Omega 3, 6 and 9 found in our products comes from one source and has a natural blend not found by combining Omega's from mixing plant and animal sources. Omega 9 is a critical part of the Omega equation because of its ability to penetrate tissue and its ability to "carry" the Omega 3 and 6 throughout your pet's body and/or skin. Our products contain more Omega 9 than Omega 3 and 6 and, because of that, it maximizes the efficacy of the 3 and 6 in the blend.
Why is the Essential Needs Skin Therapy so expensive?
The beauty of our Skin Therapy is that "a little goes a long way." So, since you only need a small amount to achieve results, you will be amazed how long an 8 oz. bottle will last.
How often should I use the Skin Therapy product?
It depends on the extent of your pet's problems. To begin treatment, the more often you can apply Skin Therapy, the quicker you will see results. Once you get the problems under control, you will be able to use the product as needed.
What do you mean by your two products being a "one, two" punch?
If your pet has a topical or skin problem, the Skin Therapy should be the lead item so that healing can begin immediately. The Food Supplement regimen should also begin immediately so that healing from the inside-out can take place. Essential Fatty Acids, taken internally, might take 2-3 days to begin working. During those days, you will already have a head start on the problem by using our topical Skin Therapy.
How often should I use the Food Supplement?
The Food Supplement should be given once per day. The recommended dosage is one teaspoon (5 ml.) per 20 pounds of pet weight. After the pet's problems have disappeared, it is recommended that you administer half a teaspoon (2.5 ml.) for a daily maintenance schedule. Once your pet has this blend of Essential Fatty Acids in its system, it is logical to maintain it or you will be required to start again.
Why does the Food Supplement contain Poultry fat?
Poultry fat is added to the Food Supplement to enhance palatability. Generally, dogs, cats and ferrets really like the taste of our Essential Fatty Acids; to ensure that your pet ingests our powerful EFA's, poultry fat is added.
What does "premium distilled" oil mean?
Each ingredient in our products is "Molecularly Distilled." We offer this extra refining process to ensure that you are receiving the purest ingredients possible. Pet Skin Doctor is the only company in the industry to offer this additional process for your pet's safety.
How does your "guaranteed results" promise work?
